How To Save Money On Movies and Avoid Spending More

There are many ways to save money on movies. You may love so much watching movies at cinema or on DVDs but you a very budget to cope with the living cost. This post could provide a little relief of your movies madness.

First, lets look at the illegal approaches to watch movies with little or no money at all. They seem like the best ways to save money but you’ll may find trouble with the higher authority if you get caught. I only want to show you ways of saving money on movies and I’m not highly encourage people to follow this approach but if you want to, don’t get caught. Simple.

  • Buy pirated DVD. Buy at pasar malam (night market) or selected shopping mall which is illegal. Cost of buying a DVD: RM 5 – RM 15. I was once found 20 movies in one DVD and that is outrageous, pirates these days are really technologically advanced.
  • Rip movies from file-sharing or torrent. Watch for copyright title or else, you will face problems with lawsuits.
  • Direct download from RadipShare and FileFactory.
Here I point out for the legal ways to save money on movies (not including P2P, filesharing, illegal copies which enabling copyright infringement). You want to save some money for bigger purpose but you can’t leave your loves of movies and TV series.

  • Plan your budget. Include the appropriate amount that you want to spend for movies on your budget. Too much it will blow your money, too little and you can’t reach your satisfaction.
  • Go for super Wednesday. Both TGV and GSC cut down their prices in half on Wednesdays.
  • Chase the ticket of early bird. Buy ticket for the first show of the day (usually at 11.00 a.m.) which actually can save your money.
  • Borrow from your friend and family. I usually keep waiting for my friends or my brother to buy new DVDs, so I can borrow it.
  • Rent DVD.
    • Eflix Sdn Bhd is biggest DVD rental store in Malaysia, almost every title available in this store. Link via my88db.
    • Although the interface and the design are ugly, videos2u provides great offers on movies. Free delivery, no late charge (as shown on the banner). Read the FAQ to know the rates.
  • Don’t buy movies at all, just wait for free broadcast TV to show the movie. May consumes two years or three years.
  • Watch movies online. There are several website that provide you good link to watch movie online for free. Only the problem is that you have be patience because there’s a lot buffering, depends on youinternet connection speed. Link via watch-movies and tv-live plus SurfTheChannel.
  • Watch or buy only the good ones. Buy reading some reviews and stars on the movies that you want to buy, you may save some money instead of throwing away the DVD after you watching because it was a toilet-junk movie. IMDB and RottenTomatoes are the reliable resources of movies, they tell you which movie is good and which movie is not. Make a regular visit to IMDB top 250 films and tomatometer of 80% or higher.
  • Buy second hand DVD. You can easily buy it on eBay!Malaysia or Lelong.
If you have brilliant ideas on how to save money on movies, please don’t hesitate to help us with your opinions on the comment box below.

Thank god, I’m not wearing a seat belt.

This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times. 5.3.2 If a customer wishes to use more than the volume permitted, a written request should be made to Maxis. 5.3.3 Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated.

Big Apple Addiction : How to reduce it and save the money

Me and my wife were once addicted to Big Apple Donut because of its sweetness flavor and delicious soft donut. We were so hooked by it that we bought everyday and spent about RM 9.50 (for 6 of donut). In a month, our expense on Big Apple almost RM 100.

We have tasted all the flavors and our all-time favorites are:

  • Alien
  • Pink Panther

Here’s are the strategies to reduce Big Apple addiction and save some money.

  • Pretend you not see the Big Apple sign whenever you pass by.
  • Don’t bring extra money wherever you go, just enough to pay parking ticket.
  • Buy only when you want to reward yourself, like pass the exam and buy Big Apple for a gift.
  • Use someone’s money, ask your friend, or your girlfriend, or your best friend to buy for you.
  • Buy twice a month.
  • Make your own homemade donuts on ehow, waynethisandthat, cooks.com
  • Don’t buy at all.
  • Buy local donut, 3 for RM1.
  • Full your tummy up with food before you go out, so you don’t have a desire to eat any food.

Are you addicted to Big Apple too? Put a suggestion how to reduce it.

Tech link: How my wife ruined GTA IV

Something that interest on How my wife ruined GTA IV.

She ran over to a huge semi truck and jacked it. I thought to myself “This should be fun, there is no way she is going to be able to drive that around and not get in trouble.” I couldn’t have been more wrong. As the semi began to lumber out of its parking spot my wife exclaimed, “Oooh, you know what will be fun, driving around and obeying all of the traffic rules.” Yeah, because THAT’S what makes GTA IV a great game, obeying all the rules! What the holy hell is wrong here!?!?

And here are tech link for today.

I read the news yesterday stated that over 30,000 citizens were reported lost, but US Diplomat suspected it could be 100k death. I felt sorry for Myanmar people who suffer with hunger due to food shortage. We should give a hand to them to ease their pain. Below are the out-of-topic links for today.

MAS has crossed over the line, disturbing Air Asia business.

Open skies pacts: AirAsia wants similar rights as MAS. Tony Fernandez gets some nerves, when the national carrier [MAS] gets more than they should deserve.

“Don’t hold us back. You can let the consumers choose (by having two choices – MAS and AirAsia), but you must also allow us to maximise our profits by granting us the Singapore-Malaysia routes, which will also lead to much lower fares,” he added.

I think MAS is losing its market share and they’re getting worried. They introduced everyday low fare, cutting down the price, and crush the Air Asia Business.

Malaysia Airlines has denied that its new product “Everyday Low Fares” is meant to cut into the business of other carriers. “Our Everyday Low Fares, launched on Monday to offer zero fares to all domestic destinations, is meant to create new demand and to encourage people who are not planning to travel to do so,” said MAS managing director/chief executive officer Datuk Seri Idris Jala.

A wonder of HTC Touch Diamond

This might be the great competitor to iPhone and I could feel the next 3G iPhone is not important anymore.

HTC Diamond features media enriched experience and amazing buttons and icons animation that will jump up the gadget lovers from their seat. After watching several video of the phone review (1 ) (2 ), I could say that HTC Diamond will make an excellent sale. I think this is better than iPhone. See more the detail of specifications.

I found out that the navigational pad on the device is actually touch sensitive so it adds functionality to the device. For example, when you are taking a photo with the 3.2 megapixel camera (I can’t wait to see how this performs) placing your finger on the navigational pad auto-focuses the camera to help take clear shots. You can also use this touch sensitive navigational pad for scrolling in web pages and more.

I wonder when will this innovation be introduced in Malaysia?

Looked up on my rss feed and I found this.

If Microsoft bought Yahoo! What will happen to Mail?

Paul Glazowski came up the idea of what will happen if Microsoft and Yahoo! if they Microsoft winning the buyout, my opinion is that Microsoft will maintain the Yahoo! Mail and may be fully use this facility instead of Hotmail because people are likely to use Yahoo! Mail more than Hotmail. Yahoo! Mail is a superior facility that serves millions around the world, Microsoft might not want to get rid off so easy. Here I pick a quote from the article.

Taking a cue from Kara Swisher of All Things Digital, we’ll focus on two respective properties of Microsoft and Yahoo: their webmail services. Yahoo Mail and Windows Live Hotmail. The two biggest whales of the industry. No other contenders come close. Yahoo has an edge, at 256 million users, to Microsoft’s 255m, but they’re virtually at a dead heat. They’re equals, more or less. Gmail and AOL Mail trail at some 92m and 49m, respectively.

The government use inflation as a lame excuse not to raise minimum wage

It’s time for government to define the new minimum wage as the consumer products are getting to soar, especially rice.

Inflation should not be used as the reason to deny workers a minimum wage of RM900 as the people are suffering, given their low purchasing power, said Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) president Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud.

The price has doubles these days compared to 20 years back. A kueh price at RM 0.20 in 1988, is RM 0.40 in 2008.

Our concern is not whether the pay increases or decreases but the purchasing power. A person who earned RM800 some 20 years ago and a person who earns RM1,600 now has the same purchasing power,” he added. He said they were not just seeking a RM900 minimum wage across the board but also a RM300 living allowance for all workers and an amendment to the Industrial Relations Act, which he claims was unfair to workers.

What will happen if the wage increment approved? Will the inflation rise?
