What You Need To Know About MLM Myths

My old friend showed up in front of my gate while waving his hand in the air. I was glad to see him because the last we met were about three years ago. We shook hand, held ourselves shoulder-to-shoulder, and we joked about how physically different we were from the last time we’ve met.

But my feeling told me that something was wrong with this guy. A tickle of emotions knocked my head, telling me that this was nothing for real. Just when I tried to put away my suspicious, he opened our serious conversation with the topic I hate the most; MLM.

[1] MLM is the new way of doing business;
MLM is way back to dinosaur. I tried to change his perspective on MLM where he had been brainwashed that MLM is the new way of doing business.

I never believed that.

Selling door-to-door, finding friend to eat friend and to eat another friend, and polishing your pyramid-line of soldiers are way back to dinosaur. Why are you make your life difficult? Why not sell it online? It will purposely meet your high-end customer.

[2] MLM will expand your network;
Not only expands, it will make you hate each other. When I found out that the real purpose of my friend’s visit, I felt the need of punching his face a hundred times. Our mutual friendship that has been developed for all these years, has collapsed like Berlin Wall.

Our meeting was a plastic when we put MLM in our circle of trust. To develop the real friendship, that I wish to regain it with my friends, is not corrupt yourself with MLM.

[3] MLM produces many successful entrepreneur.
MLM is always using the word ‘Entrepreneur’. MLM is making many successful entrepreneur. Is that true? In long term or short term? The real entrepreneur is knowing how to take risk and make a profit out of it. The real entrepreneur knows about how can a product itself can advance him in market. Not by a friend testimony or something. MLM is the polar opposite of true entrepreneurship

In Malaysia, there a lot of MLM companies. But only a few companies that can actually push forward their products to the end, the rest of them are pursuing people, by using the word ‘entrepreneur’.

So when your friends use ‘entrepreneur’ or ‘usahawan’, try to identify whether they want manipulate you (after that, eat you alive) or to support you in doing business.

[4] We are not pyramid scheme, we have in-depth lines of products.
MLM is actually pyramid scheme, on principle. When you put recruitment as your priority business rule, you put yourself on pyramid scheme.

“But we have products, and it is not pyramid scheme, you slimy ignorant!”. You can say that if you want. But I hope you can study this article from Wikipedia.

The real MLM is to sell the product first, then recruit when someone is interested. What has happened in Malaysia in that people tend to recruit people as a downline rather than to sell it.

[5] MLM product is superior than any other in the market. What’s why it’s so expensive.
The product quality of MLM product is as equal as Tesco product, which is good in quality but expensive in pricing. You can get double in quantity when you buy the same product in ordinary supermarket. Why

[6] If We Can Do It, So Can You.
We are not equally the same, on personal skill. We are born with different skill. Like myself, I can’t persuade people into buy an MLM product. But I’m skillful in selling online on eBay, writing blog post, and photographing wedding pictures. MLM is not for everyone.

My friend presented the list of successful MLM entreprenuer and ask me, “don’t you want to be like them? successful, and rich?”

No, and Yes. I want to be rich. But not like this. By doing some deceptive recruitment, make someone be my downline and work harder to raise me up, and brother-will-kill-brother climbing to the top. That is not my type. Besides, you can’t get rich just by doing MLM anyway.

When someone is approaching with the MLM business, you have to analyze the businesses very closely . They may claim that the opportunity is so good that you have to work one hour a day, or recruit new people is easy, or you can step a ladder to top without obstacles. Make a checklist, ask yourself whether MLM is match with your personality, or your strength. If YES, good luck in finding a new recruitment. If NO, pack your bag and run!
