My Breastfeeding Diary : My Medela Freestyle from eBay; eBay is a Hassle Free Market Place

All the while I’m using Medela Freestyle for 6 months plus,plenty of readers asked questions on Medela Freestyle. The questions vary from warranty of the FS,the adapter, postage cost to Malaysia, the sound of FS’s motor to after sales service of Medela. Here is answer for some of your doubt

Note : I bought Medela Freestyle from Ebay US. The price much cheaper from local price which is RM 1295 including postage.

Where can I buy Medela Freestyle that cheaper than local price??
The retail price local Malaysia market range from RM1699 – RM2299. The higher price from the local market, are the main reason why I bought Medela FS from eBay. It’s a hassle free market place that provides various type of products.

What happened to my warranty, if I bought Medela Freestyle Warranty from eBay
One thing that, if you bought Medela from Ebay, the warranty is void. However, worry not, there are local company that can do service for Medela breast pump. You can call them up for more details:

Note : I just called them, they will charge me RM160 for motor service..

How about the postage, insurance, custom?
I’d paid RM200 total for the courier service to send the FS all the way from US to my office door step. The Insurance is depend on the type of shipping. You can ask the seller to add insurance on the shipping, with additional fee. For tax and custom checking, some items are taxable, based on the price. However, ask the seller to tick on ‘item as gift’ and put ‘USD5′ on customs declaration form. I have bought over 100 item on eBay this year and have no problems with the custom.

Where can I buy Medela FS plug adapter
If you buy Medela FS from US, you need to buy new adapter to attach to Medela FS’s adapter. You can find the adapter at Tesco or Jusco shopping mall.

Is’it true that Medela Freestyle has noisy motor
Yes, FS’s motor quite noisy, however, its quieter compare to Medela Mini Electric. Nothing much to worry, I just turn on the music and start express breast milk just at my cubicle with smiley face without anyone notice that actually I’m expressing breast milk.

Huda’s Kitchen : Widad’s Food : Oat with Apple Prune Puree

Put 5 tablespoons of oat into the pot. Add 1 1/4 cup of water and boil

Add Apple Prune Puree

Add 2 tablespoons of dates juice and blend it.

Ready to eat. I’d put inside the fridge and put inside small container for Widad’s breakfast and lunch.
Super yummy!!!

Note : Find the goodness of oat for your baby
Note : I’ve took 3 tablespoons and add with fresh milk. Such a nutritious drink. Good for those who on diet like me.. ~!!!

Widad Milestones : 6 months old

My little girl turn six and everyday she look so girlish with curly hair and curvy eyebrows,

  • She would turns towards sounds and voices. my high pitch voice especially.. huhuh
  • Loves to talk and makes bubbles
  • She can rolls in both directions, once I found her under the sofa, stuck herslf and shouted for help. huhuh
  • Reaches for objects and mouths them
  • Lunge forward and started to push up her bottom to crawling.Tapi angkat jer kaki sure tersembam..then nangis marah..
  • May drag object towards himself

When You Abusively Hit Your Children. [Opinion]

Building self-esteem in children is a must. To raise great leadership, our kids need to be injected with intelligence and self-confidence as well. But don’t blame the parent and their parenting styles.

Use positive word to children so they will behave positively and thrive? I don’t think so. They will be spoiled if you do that. For me, you must have at least pinch or spank your children as a last resort, if all the soft techniques in the world have failed. If you don’t believe, look the west countries, especially in US. See how bad they treat their parent.

Authoritarian and Authoritative Parenting is very, very addictive and abusive, once you are using it under emotional stress. We want to use it wisely to put everything in order, but end up in abusively transferring our rage to our children; you always want to punish them if they refuse or even hesitate with your orders.

Remember, beatings, yelling and punishing constantly are not the elements of the parenting styles. Those are domestic violence.

You can hit, yell, punish, rotan, or whatever you want that you feel appropriate. There’s nothing wrong with that. But give your children a chance by correcting them using soft techniques. If they don’t listen, then there’s nothing wrong to punish them.

You have the power, use with your brain. Don’t abuse it, or else you will be on tomorrow’s front page news.

What Makes Your Children Listen To You [ParentingStyle]

My son only listen to me when I pinch him. And he is not always listen to me when I reason or talk softly with him.

“Sit down when you while having your lunch,” I said. He was running with loads of food in his mouth. After several positive words and nice instructions lead to an end road, I was forced to punish him with several pinching and spanking.

So I always use the 3 steps below in parenting my children:
Step [1] Ask him Softly like “Please”.  I take the softest technique and see whether he listen to me or not. I always ask him “please” and “let’s do it together”.

Step [2] Reward him. If step 1 didn’t work. I try you-do-it-you-get-reward method. For example: “Amirul. Listen. If you take a bath right now, I give you Vitagen or you can watch Toy Story 3 all day.”

Step [3] Cubit and Jentik. My cubit and jentik is not the mild one. My pinching is hard and my son always in the state of screaming in tears when he received this. I do this because I want him to bear in mind that if you not listen to what Daddy said, after you ignored Step 1 and Step 2, I will send an apocalypse to your world.

After a while, I’m rarely using the step 3 as I would send reminder to him every time he act badly in my softest voice, “Nanti Daddy cubit karang.”

Hearing that my word make him startled, and he responds firmly and obey every word I’ve said after that.

  • Abuse a child is a cruel behaviour
  • Abuse a child should be condemn by everyone
  • Someone who abuse a child should be punished

take 1 apple and 2 prunes. Washed clean

Peel off the fruits skin and take out the seed. Cut into small pieces

Put the fruits into the blender and add 1/4 cup of water. Blended well

Tada.. Apple Prunes Puree.

Note : I got this idea from Gerber BabyFood. I went to Manjaku Baby Centre and found Gerber instant BabyFood in small bottle packing. Instead of buy it, I do-it-myself. Air tangan mummy lebih sedap. Mummy masak ngn penuh kasih sayang.. :D )

My Breastfeeding Diary : Widad’s Expressed Breast Milk (EBM) Disposal – Part II

After 1st batch of EBM disposal, now 2nd batch of Widad’s EBM that need to be dispose followed. This EBM were express in month of August only. The amount was approximately 196.5 oz. Now no more EBM in MIL’s fridge. She can happily buy and store up her foods stock.. Huhuhuh. Currently, Widad just depend on EBM in our fridge. Just sufficient for her daily supply. Widad turn 6months old and my mission to exclusively breastfeed her have successful. Alhamdulillah, Thank to Allah to make my effort and wish come true. Without all those support from Mr Hubby, friends, and immediate family, I dont think my mission gonna be successful and went smoothly. Alhamdulillah, my breastfeeding journey already reached the target.

Entering the 2nd phase of breastfeeding after started solid foods to Widad is really challenging. From approximately 17 oz milk , now I just managed to expressed 15oz or less. I just don’t mind and don’t want to stress myself as my breast milk is no longer her only food to growth. Hopefully, she will not become picky eater like Amirul and eat whatever I’d cook for her. :D

Air Asia Free seat promo had end last week. When I saw RM400 total amount for the flight ticket, my hand gets so itchy to click next button and putting our name on passenger list.

I had few places in my wish list. Conversation between me and Mr Hubby at the office through gTalk about this promo :

  • Yayang jom Jogjakarta. NO..Mount Merapi  just erupted last few weeks.
  • Disneylang Hong Kong??? NO..Mr Hubby disagree with Disneyland Hong Kong due to language and foods barrier.
  • How about Langkawi, he asked me; What in langkawi?? Ada pinggan mangkuk I answered. Baik beli kt Rantau Panjang jer bler blk Kelantan he reply back..Aduss.
  • Yayang, I already bought flight to Sandakan. Nov 2011. Everything being booking and arrange by me just now. Semua pun tempat pun disapprove.. banci tau. With feeling-less voice.. ok (Actually I just cheating him, I wont do any decision with his approval plus I’m using his his credict card to buy this ticket.. huhu)
  • Last choice: Singapore. Yayang, lets go Singapore. Universal Studio Singapore good place for our family. Besides, we can visit Singapore Zoo which is better than our Zoo Negara. He can see the real animals..erhmm. Don’t worry no shooping. Just sight-seeing. erhmmm. Check the Airasia website and check whether there free seat to Singapore.. Yes!!! Love you yayang..

Maybe My Hubby was pening-pening lalat, just now he said ok when I told him flight ticket to Sandakan already booked, and now check flight ticket to Singapore.. huhuh.

and I managed to grab 3 free seat and flat rate fee for infant. We are going to

From Parenting To Investing

Some parent apply their well-versed knowledge on other subject, to their parenting styles. Well, same as this one. But this one is applying their parenting style to finance and investment field . They reverse in unique style.

This hiccup in my parenting experience brings to mind a few investment concepts. These are often shared but ignored by many. What did I learn from this experience?

1. Never laugh at any advice, even if it sounds irrelevant at that time.

2. Never assume that the unexpected will never happen.

3. Appreciate the power of “divide and conquer”.

I realised that I could apply what I have (re)learnt about parenting to portfolio investing.

Follow Your Heart.

But there’s one thing I have to disagree with him: Advice. Always listen to the advice. Always listen, but it’s not a compulsory to follow. Whatever it is, you have to listen to your children and yourself. Follow your heart You can take the advice if it’s suitable with your kids. But again, always make a decision for the greater good of your children, not rely from someone who have 10, 20, or 100 years of experience in parenting. Everyone is different and unique.

Widad Constipate !!!

After a happy breastfeeding journey, I had introduced Widad with solid foods once she turn 6months. I become more excited. I want to play ‘masak-masak’  as the childhood. Experimenting with new recipe of puree that simple and easy for me.. :D . So far I’d done few recipes like, simple rice porridge, banana puree and papaya puree to her. She enjoy the foods and sometimes, she would grab the spoon from me hand and try to feed herself.

However, now she having constipation problem. This happened twice and really sad to see Widad crying and pushing the hard stool from her butt. The sweet face with curly hair gone haywire once she shouted loud to push the hard stool.

Lucky to have daddy for being a ‘Doctor’ of the day. He ‘operated’ Widad by putting the bath gel onto his picky finger and jerk out the stool. She cried louder and daddy become panicked. Sweating can seen on his forehead like in major operating case. After 15 mnutes in ‘operation theatre aka toilet’, daddy done and passed Widad to me. She just fall asleep once in my arm and I can see she just sweating like a knight fighting in battle war. :D

Huda’s Kitchen : Chocolatey Bread Pudding

Ingredients :

1/4 cup of Sugar
8pcs of bread
1/4 cup of Freshmilk
1/2 cup of evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
1/2 teaspoon of lemon essense
cocoa poweder
chocolate chip

Cut bread into small pieces

Put fresh milk, condensed milk, vanilla & lemon essence,sugar and eggs into bowl. Mix well

Arrange the bread nicely into the transparent bowl.

Pour the fresh milk, evaporated milk, vanilla & lemon essence,sugar and eggs m ixture onto the bread. Before baked fore 30mins, deco the tops of pudding with cocoa powder and chocolate chip…

Note : the finish pudding forget to snap the picture. All go into mummy tummy.

1 small papaya cut into half portion. Another half is for Mummy Daddy and Abg Amirul to enjoy

Peel of the papaya’s skin and take out the seed

Cut into small pieces and blended

Papaya puree in pudding tray. sorry comot , nak cepat sbb Widad dah bising2 kt luar..

Note : This papaya puree are readily to be eaten or can add into rice porridge or just add few spoon of breast milk to add the creamy yummy flavour

Amirul 32 Months Old Milestones

Amirul now 32 months or 2 years 8 months. Alhamdulillah, he grow well, healthy besides his asthma condition, active, shy like his daddy, sometimes takes time to socialise. More Amirul’s milestones at 32 months:

  • Getting better at doing things for himself  like take off clothes and diaper, washing and drying hand before and after foods
  • Still wearing diaper. However, he now telling us if he poo or pee. “Amma, yak . Aikk saper yang poo ni, mummy ker Amirul.. then he’s smiling and immediately takes off his pants and go to toilet”
  • His current vocab : Amma = Mummy, Dit = Daddy, Anya = Baby Widad, Yak = Berak, Milk = milk, E-iou = tractor, Ueu-Ueu = Chicken, Ayis = Haris, Air = Air, etc. Its quite worrying us because Amirul still speak few words, however, we will wait patiently. Will update on Amirul speech therapy appointment later
  • His current sentence : Nak milk = he want milk, Amma nk Woody = Mummy nk watch ToyStory, Nak air = nak air, etc
  • His one leg balancing skill much better. He plays scooter well now.
  • Treat his little sister well and loves her so much.
