Let’s Bring You Own Lunch to Work

Lets go for lunch – a friend shouting. I brought mine from home. Why you should bring your lunch pack to work?? A question with simple answer to me. I’m saving my money. Tho I’d saw some people frown at me awkwardly but it’s my choice. I have my own points of view why bringing own lunch to work is good

Economical
[1] I’m saving my money for anothers important thing. Obesity in Malaysia is on upward trend. This is every alarming. So spend your money more on exercise equipment!!
[2] I am not only cut the cost on foods, but also cutting unwanted money spend on unnecessary foods like junk foods etc. Say NO to bubble tea, Big Apple and Garret..
[3] Some hawker foods are overprice with unpleasant taste. Don’t sell your foods if you do not how to cook!!!!!
[4] Its true that you can save a lot if you bring your lunch to work. Its small amount of money, but remember, sedikit-sedikit, lama-lama jadi bukit

Hygienic Matters
[1] Its all control by me. Choosing the fresh raw foods to deciding the menu. Handling the raw foods, menu preparations, storage until its ready to be served. I’m preventing from foods contamination
[2] I saw rat running happily at your kitchen, Be more hygienic please.
[3] This can reduce the chances of any food -borne disease like Hepatitis A,

Nutrition Concern
[1] I know, some do complaint that my food is not healthy and nutritious. Just bcoz of no vegie/salad in my lunch you considered mine is not healthy. But, if i change from vegie/salad to fruits, izzit healthy enough. Sometimes, i do buy veggie at cafe. so its still healthy.
Refer to MyPlate Program recommended by USDA below. Plan you meal wisely

MyPlate Nutritional Guide
[2] You are complaining that mine is not healthy only because no veggie, but looks at yours, oily, fattening, salty, MSG, :P

Time Consuming
[1] Have you experience to choose foods or decide what to eat within 15minutes or more. It happened to me sometimes, and I end up eating bread which cost me RM 1.
[2] I’m standing in front of varieties of foods but end up, fried rice please !!!

I’m wasting my time just choosing and deciding what to eat. If I bring my own lunch, I already know what to eat and within 15minutes, I’m done with my lunch and can watch Kpop Drama.. winkwinkwink!!!!

Don’t you think that  my lunch is tasty, healthy and nutritious. My own sandwich inspired by Subway
Whole grain bread [Grain] , egg + meatloaf + beef patties [Protein], salad + tomato [Vegetable]
Fruit – as dinner

How can you save with Tesco ClubCard

Where do you spend money for your groceries?? Tesco, Carrefour, Bintang, Giant, Cold Storage, Checkers or etc. There are few choices of hypermarket for me to choose near to my area but I am Tesco loyal customer. uhukssss. Most of the time, I will spend money for grocerries and related items at Tesco. Besides of from the items are arranged neatly on shelves, items sold at Tesco is fresh and made up of various options. However the most important thing is the cheaper and affordable prices they offer compared to Carrefour and Giant.

If Carrefour has Bonuslink to collect points and Giant have sticker to redeem item from their reward programme, Tesco has ClubCard for customer to enjoy the discount. Every 150 points collected will be converted to cash voucher that will be given together with ClubCard statement every quarter. Other than cash voucher, you also are given product coupons to enjoy.

ClubCard Cash vouchers and products coupons

I managed to save RM12. Small money but good for our budget

Not much I think, but this trolley worth RM400. Do the goods price increasing significantly to increment of oil price.

Breastfeeding Wishlist : Choosing A Breast pump

Remember my breastfeeding wishlist?? I need to jot down every time I want to buy something, so that I wont forget. According to my breastfeeding’s wishlist, the 1st item in the list is BREAST PUMP. After 6months of surveying and reviewing the available breast pumps in the market, I had made the decision to buy Medela Freestyle Hand free breast pump. Fuhh, its not an easy decision to make as the breast pump is quite pricey, though the good review have been given by users. After considering all the good sides and the drawbacks of this pump, I had bidding session on eBay US and managed to grab Medela Fresstyle breast pump; USD 349.99 including postage approximate RM1159.03

Talking about surveying and review of breast pump in the market, it’s really made me feel confuse and hesitate, which breast pump is the best and worth every cent that i would spend. Of course everyone of us want the best because the price of the breastpump is not cheap. Mencecah ratusan ringgit and some ribuan ringgit.huhuh

According to my breast feeding wishlist, I’m looking for Spectra 3 or Medela Harmony. However after reviewing and surveying process, I had short listed to Ameda Purely Yours Ultra Breast Pump and Medela Freestyle Hand-free Breast pump. Both pumps have their own competitive advantage. I don’t want to do comparative debate of each pump, and claimed this breast pump is good, and that breast pump is better. Instead of doing that, I think it’s better that I’m sharing about things that we should consider when buying a breast pump.

Before buying a breast pump, what things that we should consider :

Your Nature of Work

  • Is your work required you travel frequently ?? – If yes, you need light weight pump or pump that have car adapter where you can pump while driving ; eg : Medela, Spectra 3
  • Are you most of the time busy at work and no ‘take 5′ rest – If yes, you need double breastpump to save your time. eg : Medela Freestyle, Spectra 3, Ameda Purely Yours,
  • Does your bos give 1/2hrs break for pumping ?? If yes, you can choose to use manual pump or single electric pump. eg: Avent ISIS, SafetyPlus, Medela Harmony & Swing
Type of breast pump prefer

  • Manual – Use the strength of the hand or arm muscles for single pumping. Not recommended for heavy duty pumper.
  • Electric pump – Operated using electricity or batteries or plug in your car; Medela, Ameda, Spectra, Mamivac
  • Single pump – Having a cup to collect milk that sits on one breast at a time; Medela Swing, Safety Plus
  • Double pump – Have double pump extracts milk from both breasts simultaneously; Spectra 3, Ameda Purely Yours, Medela PISA & Freestyle, Mamivac
New / Used Pump

  • Used Pump – You have to considered about health issues that may rise after using the pump, how long the pump had being used in the past, maybe if you still insist on used pump, you shall consider changing few of spare parts,
  • New Pump – Compare the price, buy in-store or online, warranty, after-sales-service
Budget

After considered above tips, then check your budget. If you have enough budget, you should go for reliable and good quality breast pump like Medela, Spectra, Ameda and Mamivac. If you have limited budget, you can choose to buy manual pump like Avent . The choice is at your hand.

You can read here, where mummies sharing about their breast pump.

Nintendo Wii saved My Petrol Usage

There I just said it, Wii Nintendo saved my petrol usage. Playing Wii made me forget about outside world, that can make my money gone in a blink or in a fraction of seconds. Instead of collecting 90 kilometers on Saturday and Sunday, wasting my time to visit such popular malls like Midvalley, The Curve, Ikea, and KLCC, I play with Amirul by Wiimote in my hand; swinging, batting, tilting, and cooking. The Wiimote that can detect detailed movement in three dimension, gave us gaming addict which we could play Wii all day long without rest. But the price of the console is quite expensive. It was RM1299 including two Wiimote and Nunchuck plus 10 DVD games, bought it at The Curve after listening recommendation from my brother and several trusted friends, who told me that it was the cheapest price in KL.

It’s a huge expense for me. RM1299. I never bought a gaming console which cost that much. If I transformed that money into petrol RON95, I could enjoy filing petrol until full to my Saga fuel tank about 26 times. But I feel no guilty or regret buying that console because I thought as if it was an investment and it would give you returns in future but not in form of money.

My wife and I love to outing at several interesting places on weekend, mostly at shopping Mall. Midvalley or The Curve, if we got bored, we pushed our fuel pedal to KLCC. Weekend outing was our hobby. Our obligatory activity. I remember when my wife still carrying Amirul inside her womb, we went to three different places; Sunway Pyramid Mall, The Mines, and Jusco Balakong, and then my wife broke her waterbag, which resulting the birth of our first baby. Our weekend lifestyle was cost us a fortune. The upkeep was hurting our cash flow and we did notice that however, we refuse to change our lifestyle. We loved it. Ok, Let me do the math.

Calculation of Weekend Outing.
Shopping Items = RM50
Lunch and Dinner x 3 [MacDonald, Nandos, everything fast food]= RM50
Petrol + Toll + Parking Fee + Others = RM30
Total = RM 130
2.5 years = 52 weeks + 52 weeks + 26 weeks = 130 week X 130 = RM16,900

The outing had been going on about 2 and a half years which the accumulated expenses was RM16,900. The outing kept going on and on, until my wife pregnant a new baby and the purchasing of a new house. That two occurrence changed our lifestyle. Consequently, we need extra savings to pool our money, gather up 10% of purchasing value to pay deposit as well as money for maternity bill and expenses. To do that we have to stay home without going anywhere on weekend. The disposal of the family outing activity seemed necessary because it consumed our money, but we had replace our weekend with something that paid our interest. And that was Nintendo Wii.

How long this Nintendo enthusiasm last? I ask myself. Someday this toy will be abandoned. Just like we did to Dance Dance Revolution Game. But I think it may last up to three years. I hope this console will help me to save me more money in future.

Breastfeeding Wishlist : Nursing Bra

A GOOD friend is like a BRA,
Close to ur heart and very supportive.

Bras is a must in women closet. Why women wear bras??? There are many answers to this question, however, the most answered ones is “Because Breasts need to be supported“. Nevertheless, there is one answer that caught my attention; ” Because I am breastfeeding and i need to wear nursing bras“. Do nursing mummies need to buy nursing bra? Because i’m preparing myself to a breastfeeding journey a.k.a breastfeeding battle (It’s a battle to me as i had failed to breastfeed Amirul exclusively for 1st 6months before); everything related to breastfeeding is my current concern.

After googled and browsing thru www, i think nursing bra is an option for breastfeeding preparation. It’s neithes a MUST nor NEED, but rather an OPTION.It’s for our convinience to breastfeed especially in public, to accomodate the changing size our breast, to accomodate nursing pad if our breast engorge, and for our comfy.

Type of nursing bra :

  • Underwire
  • No Underwire
  • Flaps
  • No Flaps
My Experince : I’d prefer flaps with no underwire bras. More comfortable if no wire, no worry of pressure on the breast or block ducts and mastitis problem. It’s also convinience as I can easily unhook and re-hook the flaps, or easily pull the bra aside with one hand. I’d prefered cotton fabrics.

When should I consider to buy nursing bra???

  • Mid to late pregnancy
  • When pre-pregnancy bras no-longer comfortable or tight
My Experience : I had bought 5pcs of nursing bra during my early pregnancy. Its not because i no longer comfortable with my pre-pregnancy bras but for preparetion or there are sale went on. For my pre-pregnancy bra, i’d used bra extenders. JIMAT

Maternity Jeans I Love

Generally when you getting pregnant, your body size will increase and some mummies feel inferior and some do neglect their appearance for almost 1yrs plus (9months pregnant plus 2 months confinement). You no need to worry about your appearance and you deserve to look and feel good throughout your pregnancy. Comfortable clothes is very important for preggie mummy.

Jeans lover like me, jeans is a must have outfit in my closet. I feel more confident in jeans. (apa kaitan pun tak tau). Since, 9th week pregnant, i can’t wear my Levis jeans, and perasaannya seperti: “aku kelihatan tak cantik, gemok dan malasnya nk kuar jalan2 sbb jeans tak muat”. Tapi tak der me dok terperuk dlm umh, ader gak jln2.. huhu

Then i found this online shop , MumDreams Boutique . This boutique selling maternity outfits and breastfeeding items. You can either buy online or go their main branch showroom at Bangi or for those from east coast, they have one branch at Kelantan. I bought Gap Maternity jeans size 2 and i really loves the jeans. This jeans has pouch to protect my cute tummy.. huhuh

  • Do housework like mengemas, membersih, menyapu dan sewaktu dgnnya
  • Facebooking
  • Twittering
  • Blogging
  • Mencari resipi (me love cooking recently, sungguh luarbiasa)

Menu for the day : ikut selera tekak mummy yer, makan without question asked.
  • Daging rebus cicah air asam – recipe from here
  • Ikan bilis + tempe goreng cili padi – recipe from here – me ada la tokok tambah seperti ltk tempe
  • Ayam masak merah (pedas amat) – This one no recipe needed, i dah expert.. huhu
  • Homemade kebab for dinner – recipe from MyResepi.com – I’d used daging burger and potong2 kecik. janji sedap and Mr Hubby makan dgn banyaknya.

Note : This menu is for our lunch on Sunday and lunch box for monday. masak dgn banyaknya. huhuhu
