My Confinement Diary : Confinement Set

3 weeks earlier than expected date and my confinement set this at the jamu shop.. (tak beli lagi lor)..huhuh. Should I asked Mr Hubby to buy or just wait until I’m finished my confinement period and I’d buy myself??? I just afraid Mr Hubby will buy different thing from what i’d described and to avoid this, my MIL made homemade jamuor me and myself also buy few vitamins to replace jamu. In fact, I think much better as the vitamins are clinically tested. So here goes my confinement set :

A mixture of turmeric,tamarind and rock sugar drink

Turmeric – Is a common spice normally use in culinary. Its make  foods like masak lemak, curry and rendang tastier. Besides culinary usage, turmeric also give health benefit including  for postnatal treatment; shrink the uterus, stimulate milk flow and production of red blood cells, dissolving blood clots, easing pain in the abdomen and to treat irregular menstruation. Tamarind – Similar to turmeric, tamarind also use in culinary. Its sweet sour taste make food tastier. Tamarind also gives good health benefit like mild laxative, ease sore throat, reduce fever and protect against colds,etc. For postnatal usage, tamarind either in drink or foods can soften the stool as bowel problem is common during confinement period. Rock sugar – To sweeten the drink..nyumnyumnyum. Without this sweetener, you will feel brackish when drink it.

Shaklee Vitamins
B Complex – Maintaining good health and good effect in reducing the postnatal depression
Vitalea – contains Beta Carotene that help in maintenance of growth, vision and tissue development. During child birth, some of the tissue body were tear out, by taking this vitamin, the healing process will speed up.
Alfafa – contains Medico sativa which is good for breastfeeding. Alfafa were among the milk booster that recommended to take during lactating
Calcium – Calcium requirement is very high during lactating since breast milk contains calcium

My Confinement Diary : 5 weeks confinement

Now I started my confinemt at my house;Kelantan. Unfortuantely, the house is under renovation and more like ‘rumah bersamu Tv3′ . Pity to Widad, day time is so damn hot and night time so freezing cold plus dusty and noise from construction works. She hardly sleep during day time and sometimes becomes so cranky.

My Confinement Routine & Diary

  • Wake up quite late as i cant sleep at night. Now no more hot shower for me & Widad. Widad screaming bler air sejuk touch her skin
  • After 30days confinement at MIL’s which I was served with all kind of foods, now its time for me to berpantang makan.. Hahhhh. My mom really practice all those pantang larang including pantang makan, cara duduk, not all fruit boleh makan,acara “pelepas” etc. Antara foods that not allow to eat ; putu mayam sebab putu mayam bentuk dier berpintal2, kalu makan sakit urat, duduk kena kaki straight tak boleh bersilang sbb nanti angin tak kuar dok berpintal kat kaki.. acara “pelepas” iaitu acara halau hantu or anasir2 jahat after bersalin. Kalu nak bawa BB kuar, have to bring along black papper plus paku tuk avoid hantu datang dekat ngn BB. etc.
  • Reduce few more pound, now my weight is 61kg

  • Widad 2nd dose Hep  B injection at Poliklinik Kg Penambang. She now weighted 4.3kg.

  • Widad already circumcise – Me tak sanggup tgk Widad kena circumcise, so MamaAtok yg pegang and handle .
  • My parent not so supportive in breastfeeding. Lack of info and knowledge were the major factors why they are not sopportive. Nangis je dorang igt Widad lapar..adussss.Pastu sibok nak kasik makan nasik lenyek. Yang paling sedih bler my mom cakap cami ” Ala Widad, dok jela kat sini MamaAtok jaga, kalu lapa MamaAtok kasik susu cap LEMBU”..adoii geramnya

Wahhh, Its a month already.

My Confinement Routine & Diary

  • Nothing much different from previous week; 6am wake up for breast pumping session , 730am breakfast, 8am take a bath, 9 am watching Tv until 12am, break for lunch, 2 pm – 5 pm sleep. That my daily routine sambil2 melayan kerenah Widad yg kenkadang cranky sangat; nak tido atas lap mummy, nak tido sambil dukung, nak nyoyot every 1/2hrs, and kenkadang nangis tak renti yg serba tak kena sampai mummy penin fikir aper yg tak kena ngn Widad ni.
  • Allergic on my both leg which I’m not sure allergic of what. Luckily only on my both leg which the itchiness relief after I’d apply calamine lotion. Doc suggested me to do skin test to identify the problem
  • Breast milk stocks approximately 15 packs in storage bags and 5bottles consists between 2oz – 4oz
  • My body now more energetic and less lethargic. I’ve took healthy foods and vitamins

Widad 1 month old milestones

  • Widad 1 month old on 28/5/10..


  • She can lift her head up
  • She can turn to side to side.
  • Besides soothing herself with my breast nipple and pacifier, she sometimes suck her thumb.
  • She woke up every 2 hours for milk and I think she consume enough milk as her diaper change is about 6 – 7 times per day
  • She recognize my body’s smell. and I loves to kiss her and smell her and hug her . muahhh

Its been 3rd weeks already. Time flies so fast. Another 2 weeks I’m going back to Kelantan.

My Confinement Routine & Diary

  • Started to stock up my breast milk. However I’m not consistently have a routine pumping session. Nevertheless, its a must to have 2 session perday (early morning and afternoon)
  • My insect-bite-like rashes getting better. From red mark turn to brownish mark. Still itchy but lessen compare to pregnant time
  • Back and neck pain – Widad prefer to have milk in cradle-hold position. How i wish i mastered lying down position and Widad give good cooperation. I can sleep while Widad drink milk.. Bestnya. However, thanks to Mr Hubby for giving me myBrest@friend.

  • How i wish i can start driving here and there. I have so many places to go and shopping to do.. huhuhu

  • Widad consistently hungry. Is she hungry??? She can sucking as long as 2 hours. Fuhh… Instead of drinking milk, she soothing herself with my breast nipple.  She felt comfortable and loves to be cuddled.

My Confinement Routine & Diary :

Widad day 5 and confirmed  jaundice.I went to KK Bangi to checked her jaundice level and immediately the doctor referred Widad to Hosp Serdang. Her jaundice level was 16 and admitted at NICU for 2 days. 2days stayed at NICU really give me a very a new experience. I saw various of babies with various cases of illnesses. Ader yg berselirat with tube, ader yg dok dlm incubator, ader yg helplessly non-stop crying. ader yg kena jaundice sampai kena blood transfusion. mmg sgt sedih and thanks Allah Widad only jaundice with 2 photo therapy light

  • Yellowish eyes and yellow spot on her skin when i press a finger against her skin
  • She did not poop from day 2 until day 5. Diaper change for wee wee 5 – 6 times daily. Its not sufficient to get rid the bilirubin from her body.
  • Most of the time she would  sleep and i need to wake her up for feeding (poor feeding pattern). Sometimes she just laid my breast inside her mouth and she fall asleep. Sleeping beauty that worry mummy a lot

Treatment for Jaundice : Put under photo therapy light & frequent breastfeeding

She getting fatter. She drink milk every 2 -3 hours then fall asleep. After wake up from her sleep, she cry for milk again and poop and wee wee..

 

  • Myself getting better in term of sufficient rest and energy
  • Bengkung is my best friend. Day and nite, i always wear it
  • Started to pump my breast milk however still do not stock up any EBM for after confinement stock
  • Widad sleep during day time and awake at night
  • Had lost 8kg, another 13kg to go… chaiyok Mummy Huda

My Confinement Diary – 1 week confinement

My Confinement Routine & Diary :

I’ve started my 1st day of confinement a day after been discharge from hospital on 28 Apr 10, 730pm from Hospital Kajang. Like my previous confinement period, I’ve started at my MIL’s house then a month later will be at my Mom’s house. My MIL do not believe in traditional confinement practice especially eating pattern for mother; like; only can eat nasi with ikan kering / ikan bilis, can drink a cup of water, no fruit or only selected vegie can be taken. She serve me with all the healthy foods like mixed vegie with fruits, I need to drink plenty of water for breast milk productions, chicken, meat & fish are among my daily meals. Confinement period is not a BIG deal to me. uhuksss. Jamu is an optional, depend on baby condition. If baby no jaundice or other illness, I can took the jamu if not she advice me a month later should be much better. However, this time, she did homemade jamu drink for me. Thanks mama for tumerix drink, sedap kalau di minum suam2 kuku.. uhuhuh

  • I already did the normal confinement practice – berurut, bertungku, bengkung, wearing socks but no pilis, tapel or jamu capsules
  • Everyday I have to drink homemade jamu drink – a mixture of tumeric, gula melaka & asam jawa – nice drink, i like
  • A few drop of breastmilk. Its ok as Widad wee & poo poo frequently
  • Myself already poo poo on the 3rd day of confinement, Thanks Allah its not hard stool.. uhkssss
  • Widad sleep during day time and awake during night time. So me and Mr Hubby already made a duty rooster – 9pm  - 1am : my sleep time, 1am – 6am : Mr Hubby sleep time.
  • 4th day – Jururawat came to visit me & baby. She claimed Widad having jaundice and after checked Widad free from jaundice
  • 4th day – Pusat Widad dah jatuh, cepatnya.. cuak gak at 1st sbb Amirul nya pusat jatuh after 1 week
