Watching too much TV? During dark ages of my 8-months unemployment, TV used to be my best friend. I woke up in the morning (forced by my mom), held the remote like a sword of destiny, and changed to HBO Channel. My daily activity was watching movies like a stone until the sun set. Then I had break time for dinner, continue my activity until 2.00 am.
I’ve experienced with TV addiction, and I want to share with you that I’m not very proud of it. Those were the days that I got so much time in the world, and I was completely wasting it with watching TV. I wished I could turn back time, and learn so many good things; writing, blogging, ebaying, and even photography technique.
There are bad things about watching too much TV such as;
./1. I may have no time for writing for this blog and my wife will absolutely angry with me. I’ve a deal with my wife that I will support her blog to the point of successful goals. Writing will consume about 1-2 hour.Preparation of the proper materials will add another hour to the schedule. If I was not letting go of my watching TV habit, I would disappointing my partner.
./2. Less productivity when you sit your butt all day in Sofa. What if I’m watching TV and let my partner do the house cleaning alone? What if I’m watching my favorite movie while my partner losing her breath to tidy up the mess Amirul made? What if I’m so arrogance that I’m pleasuring my TV addict when my partner needs someone to spread our clothes in the sun, washing the dishes, and changing the baby diaper?
At the end of the day, you never get anything done and your house is messed up, as well as your life.
./3. Too much TV develop risk of Death. I couldn’t believe that watching too much TV could trouble you so much.

Dr. David Dunstan argued that sitting still is unhealthy, and you will consume he the habits of smoking, eating snacks, and drinking soda. TV itself doesn’t harm you, but the activities that comes along with it may extend your cholesterol and blood pressure level.
./4. I become angry and intolerable person. When I was watching my favorite movie, I said to myself that I wanted to watch it without blinking my eyes, without being interrupted. So I was interrupted, tense was infiltrating my brain when my partner asks to do this and that.
Afraid of missing any critical points of the story, I ignored her request. She began to cry when interrupted me once again because I responded with a raised, angrier voice. On the good side, I have finished watching my favorite movie.On the bad side, I hurt my partner’s feeling, which I realized that I was a self-absorbed person who didn’t deserve her.
So I chose not to pamper my TV addiction, it will only bring destruction to myself and my family.
Alternative activities to fulfill your beautiful day without TV programs.
A lot of beneficial activities to replace your favorite programs. Here are the suggestion alternatives to TV:
./1. Reading Books. May be life without visual image and audio sound are dull. But reading books helps you to construct knowledge and self-development. Learn how to be a good father or mother. Read books that gains knowledge about babies, toddlers, children.
./2. Learn DIY Home repair. DIY world makes you literate with labor skills. You’ll soon get to familiar with hand tool like saw, wrench, pickaxe, and sledgehammer. A lot of new things that excites you, and you can make your children toys using your DIY skills.
Your hand skill getting better, you can save money over easy home repair such as water tank overflowing. Usually plumber overcharges around RM300 when they only changed floating ball that costs RM10-RM50 (depending on quality).
./3. Play with your kids. Back to the point of bonding with your children. Maintain your relationship with your children, in my view, will boost up your self-esteem, and it will make me a better person.
I enjoy watching my kid playing at playground: see-saw, slide, monkey bar, sandbox which can expand Amirul’s physical coordination, motoring, flexibility, and inner strength. Your children feel lovable when you put your children to the center of your attention.
./4. Find a Hobby. Most of hobbies are inexpensive to develop and cheap to maintain. Find one or two hobbies that match your profile. Place your usual watching TV time with your new hobbies. It is recommended to find hobbies that generate money, but stop doing that hobbies if it’s rather stressful than fun.
I have several hobbies to prevent me from watching TV for too long; reading fictions, playing Wii games, and taking photograph of my kids.
I only watch DVD movies two times a month. I only open TV channel just to watch prime news for 30 minutes every other nights. I set many barriers just to prevent from becoming TV addiction again.
